Innere Sommerwand (3082 m) from Franz Senn Hütte
Technical difficulty: 7/10 (mostly on the final ridge)
Fitness: 6/10
Objective danger: 7/10 (mostly on the final ridge)
Landscape: 9/10
Busy: 6/10
The shortest summit destination in the area around the Franz Senn Hütte. As a result, there are no long flat sections like with some of the other peaks near the hut. Beautiful views from the summit—you can already see your next goals ahead of you.
Starting point: Franz Senn Hütte
Ending point: Franz Senn Hütte
Ascend: 1000vm / 3h
Exposition: North-east
Route:
From the Franz Senn Hütte, head uphill toward the south-southeast until, after passing a blocking rock ridge, you can turn right into the Stiergschwetz. Continue through beautiful hollows and ridges to a few small lakes, to the left of the Sommerwände (2682 m). Gradually, the terrain becomes steeper again, and you reach the Sommerwandferner glacier. Ascend the right side of the glacier to the Kräulscharte (3069 m). Leave your skis here, and continue on foot along the narrow summit ridge—partially secured with fixed ropes—exposed in places, to reach the summit.
Descent
Same as the ascent.
