Explore the hidden gem of the Stubai Alps – the Zischgeles, a highlight in the Praxmar ski touring area. This popular mountain in the Sellrain range offers stunning views and exciting routes. While well-loved, the Zischgeles is often underestimated, especially its steep slopes southeast of the Kamplschröfen, which attract adventurers early in the winter. A unique experience is the descent through the Sattelloch, a beautiful alternative that can also be used as a fun way to climb up.

Route:

The route to the Zischgeles summit starts at the parking lot, where you follow the ski trail past the “Pieps Check Point.” At the next fork, keep left and head toward the old lift building of the “Hausberglift.” The climb begins with the first steep section of the former ski slope, reaching an altitude of about 2,000 meters. From there, traverse diagonally to the right into a wide basin and follow it to the end of the valley.

Next comes an impressive steep slope southeast of the Sattelschröfen, which you climb in switchbacks until you reach a wide ridge at 2,860 meters. From there, the route becomes a bit flatter as you head west toward the summit ridge of the Zischgeles. After leaving your skis at the ski depot, you continue on foot along the partly secured east ridge to the summit at 3,004 meters.

Descend:

For the descent, you have two options:

You can either follow the same route you used to climb up, or take the northern route through the Satteljoch. This is followed by a steep descent on the eastern slope that reconnects with the original trail. This alternative route is a beautiful and quieter option, allowing you to avoid the long steep slope.
