Starting point: Parking at Mutterer Alm ski resort
Ending point: Parking at Schlick 2000 ski resort
Length:
16km
Vertical: 1000m
Speed: All quite runnable and fast moving.

Route:

We started going up the ski resort from the parking lot at Mutterer Alm ski lift. There are quite a few possible trails up, so you can take your pick, or just follow the signs up to Mutterer Alm. Here is the first option to pause for a break if you’d like. After the hut, we start traversing south/ south-east along the mountain side on a forest road towards the Raitiseralm.

From here you have multiple options to get to the Kreither Alm, which is the next hut along the way. We recommend the runnable single trail. Kreither Alm provides another option to stop for a refreshment.

We continue south-east on a slightly climbing forest road towards Mahdl, a nice meadow-y area. Here we connect to Pfarrachsteig, an amazing single trail that traverses the south slopes of Nederjoch (2142m) and leads us to the last hut along the way.

After enjoying few kilometers of the flowiest trails, we arrive at the Pfarrachalm itself. You can grab some food or a drink here and all that awaits you is downhill back to the parking lot at Schlick 2000.

The downhill trail called Hirtensteig continues to be very runnable with amazing views over the entire Stubai Valley, finishing up with few hundred meters along the village streets to the ski resort parking lot at Schlick 2000.

Pro tip: bring some cash for the huts!
Pro tip #2: you can also take the panoramic tram (
Stubaitalbahn) line back from Fulpmes to Mutters and not worry about a second car.
