Starting point: Patscherkofel cable car parking lot
Ending point: Patscherkofel cable car parking lot
Length:
35km
Vertical: 2400m
Speed: Lot of forest roads and mostly flow-y trails

Route:

We start from the cable car parking lot at the Patscherkofel ski slope and starting ascending up the slope. The first stop is at the Patscher Alm after around 700 vertical meters. We continue further uphill on the hiking trails until reaching the Hochmahdalm. From here it is only few hundred meters to the top of the cable car with another two huts: Schutzhaus and the cable car top station. We continue on the trail still uphill to the summit of Patscherkofel (2246m) and Die Gipfelstube at the top.

From here, we start following the ridge of the mountains eastwards towards Glungetzer. Few hundred meters below the summit, we stop at the Boscheben hut. After the hut, we run through the longest part without any stops and also the most beautiful part of the route. First following the amazing Zirbenweg trail. We can tag the summit of Viggarspitze (2306m) along the way. Pay attention to the GPS track in order not to miss a small turn-off that makes us stick to the ridge. The ridge trail follows an airy trail to the summit of Sonnenspitze (2639m) before descending few meters to Glungetzerhütte.

We continue down the slopes of the Glungetzer ski resort, passing a small dam before reaching Tulfein Alm. This is a great spot to spot for lunch on your way, or continue another 30min or so down the forest road to the Glungetzer middle station to Halsmarter. We turn westwards from here and start making our way back to where we started. We pass four huts relatively quickly after one another. First Rinner Alm, than further on to Aldranser Alm, Sistranser Alm and finally to Lanser Alm.

From here it is only downhill back to the parking lot. We have last two stops to make at Heiligwasser and Tee-Hütt'n before finishing back where we started.
