A very popular ski tour in the Rofan moutains to the most popular summit in the area - Rofanspitze (2259 m). Relatively easy option for a sunny winter day.

Starting point: Rofan Cable Car parking in Maurach
Ending point: Rofan Cable Car parking in Maurach
Ascend:
1300vm / 5h
Exposition:
South West

The ski route through the Erfurter Hut (mountain station of the Rofan cable car) leads through magnificent terrain to the most popular ski peak in the Rofan. Although not really rewarding from a skiing perspective, ski tourers flock in droves to the summit with its exceptional views on beautiful winter days - the great view and the splendid terrain are probably the reasons for the popularity of the Rofanspitze.

Route:

Start ascending from the parking lot along the summer way all the way until the Buchauer Alm. Shortly after the hut, connect to the ski slope and continue up the slopes all the way to the Erfurter Hut.

From the Erfurter Hut, head briefly downhill along the slope and then uphill until above the Mauritzalm. Head northeast again downhill along the beginner's slope and continue in the same direction through open skiing terrain. In a wide right-left curve, ascend over a short steep section into a depression north of the Haidachstellwand. Through hollows and over knolls to the signposted junction near the Grubalacke south of the Roßköpfe.

Over a short steep section into the Grubascharte, and then diagonally along the steep grassy slopes directly towards the Rofanspitze, which is reached in the last part with some hairpin turns.

Descend:

Either descend as per the ascent route or, in good conditions, directly from the summit down into the depression of the Grubersee or all the way down to Schermsteinalm. Reskin and ascend to the Grubascharte, then return via the ascent route to the Erfurter Hut and along the slope into the valley. Eventually from Buchauer Alm, back down to the parking lot along the forest road.
